The goalkeeper remains the world’s most expensive shot-stopper following his40.5 million euros move from Parma in the summer of 2001.
Negotiations neared a conclusion last week when club president Andrea Agnelli offered Buffon a4.5m euros a year deal.
The Bianconeri faithful will be delighted with the news that one of the club’s star players has been tied down to a new contract; following speculation that Claudio Ranieri's Monaco was interested in making a move for the player.
Contact had been made between Giorgio Pellizzaro (Ranieri’s goalkeeping coach) and Buffon, in which he tried to tempt the Juventus number one with a move to the Stade Louis II.
But it is now understood that he will snub that interest and pen a new deal at Juventus Stadium, which will ensure he ends his career at the club.
