Buffalo Bills: Things we know this week

Buffalo Bills
Buffalo Bills

Buffalo’s beloved Royalty; King Terry the first and ‘Your Grace’, Queen Kim swooped into town in similar fashion to that of one Ron Burgundy, at times trapped in a Glass Case of Emotion. Terry wears his emotions on his sleeve as we have witnessed over the last few years as we have grown to know him.

The King and Queen combined kept the Orchard Park Republic from evil ruler Jon Bon Jovi, the Canadian based Roger’s family and even POTUS Donald Trump from taking over and possibly moving the Bills to another more fiscally healthy region. Terry initially acquired the Buffalo Sabres hockey team back in 2011 and first showed public affection for the French Connection weeping while posing for photographs with his hero’s from the past.

The tears were similar to when poor Baxter was punted off of a bridge due to a road rage incident. That dog was something special wearing a retainer to sleep and speaking both Spanish and English. The perception of the Pegula Kingdom from my desk in Depew, New York — a mere five minute drive to the Buffalo Niagara International Airport — is currently growing due to the Bills repealing almost all of Doug Whaley’s executive powers.

CBS has purely speculated that the relationship between Whaley and new head coach Sean McDermott may have already deteriorated past the point of no return. The next step will be to replace Doug Whaley with a better, more affordable option that can get along with coaches, especially coaches that he courted, searched, seeked, interviewed and participated in the hiring of.

I was guessing that his scouting team would survive through the NFL draft, since they have been preparing for their ‘Super Bowl’ for months and in some cases, years. Jerry Sullivan suggests that instead of stringing him along, the fair and honorable thing to do would be releasing him now as they did Rex Ryan as opposed to keeping a lame duck on staff in a prominent role.

The draft can be run by another member of the organization, but in reality, they have their guy under the title of head coach. With the amount of publically available analytics and data, the kid across the street who is training several junior high prospect bullies on just how to bully, could pick the best player on the board or even select based on need which would be denied.

Off Topic: Bon Jovi’s music is really not good. Call it bubble gum rock if you see fit. Keep in mind that they were booed off the stage opening for the Scorpions and then again for Judas Priest. Those were just two shows in Buffalo.

Also off topic; Why is the Buffalo Niagara International Airport called an International airport? I have never gone through immigration there and flown directly to Europe or Asia. I randomly looked at departures and arrivals today and see nothing except continental US flights. What do I know? Let me tell you what I know.

Things We Know About The buffalo Bills This Week:

Coach McDermott has come public saying that the Bills number two receiver is already on the roster. Is he referring to one of the free agent signings, someone that he suspects will have a breakout season? He could be referencing Charles Clay being a larger part of the offense. I personally still believe Buffalo uses the first round selection on one of the studs or grabs someone in the second whose stock drops a bit due to various reasons.

Reggie Ragland — the Bills linebacker who missed his entire rookie season last year — has been endorsed by McDermott as the potential starter based on talent, intelligence and leaderships. That is a huge statement considering the Bills have other proven veteran players in the middle of the defense. Only time will tell.

Scott Crichton was claimed off of waivers from the Vikings by Buffalo. The third round selection from the 2014 draft has had injuries slowing down his career. However, the kid had all kinds of promise entering the draft based on his college days at Oregon State.

The AFC East had the most activity in the free agent market and improved the most according to several media sources. In addition to that fun fact is that Buffalo got the highest ranking on improving the most. Bad news… Tom Brady still looks like he could play until he is 50. So not fair. Keep in mind that New England passed on him as well in multiple rounds of the draft before selecting him.

The Patriots took a chance like they continue to do currently when they draft quarterbacks in the middle to late part of the draft. They did not predict him to be the best quarterback to ever play the game. They did not think he would be better than who they already had on the roster.

If they had any inclination that he would turn out the way he has, they would have traded everyone on the 1999 current roster to move up to get the first overall pick to select the legend. Do not be confusing luck with some kind of genius drafting. That being said… to those teams like Buffalo who haven’t had “The Man” in a very long time, you got to be in it to win it. Interpretation = Keep drafting quarterbacks until one hits.

The official vote is in and the Raiders are relocating to my family’s city, Las Vegas. It will not happen until a couple seasons from now as opposed to the Vegas expansion hockey team that starts this very season. Exciting news for both leagues and the city of sin. I like it because I will get to go to Bills and Sabres games when I visit my mom, sister and her family.
