C.J. Spiller established the ground game, but it wasn't enough to avoid a difficult loss for the Bills against the Chiefs, 23-13, at home.
Jeff Tuel went 18 for 39 for 229 yards passing, one touchdown and two picks. Alex Smith finished 19 for 29 with 124 yards passing, no touchdowns and no interceptions for the Chiefs.
Spiller was a key factor for the Bills, rushing for 116 yards on 12 carries in addition to two receptions for 39 yards. Marquise Goodwin caught two passes for 64 yards while adding a touchdown.
The Buffalo defense stood its ground in the loss, limiting the Chiefs to 95 yards rushing and 124 passing. They sacked Smith two times.
Chiefs running back Jamaal Charles could not be contained, putting up 90 yards rushing.
The Bills travel to Pittsburgh next week to meet the Steelers (2-5) while the Chiefs visit Denver to take on the Broncos (7-1).
