Bucs told Ronde Barber they want him back

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers want Ronde Barber, who turns 38, to return for a 17th season with the franchise.

Now, we’ll have to wait to see if the club and player can come to terms on a deal. The first player in NFL history with 40 interceptions and 25 sacks is expected to make a “measured decision” according to the team’s Web site. Barber moved from cornerback to safety in 2012.

“Coach (Greg) Schiano and I met with Ronde this past week and expressed our desire for him to return to play another season with the Buccaneers,” Bucs general manager Mark Dominik said in a statement on the team’s Web site. “He asked us for some time to make his decision and we certainly respect that.”
