Bucs' Black uncertain after neck injury

The SportsXchange

Tampa Bay Buccaneers linebacker Quincy Black is dealing with complications with his left arm as a result of the head and neck trauma incurred in a head-on collision with Chargers running back Ryan Mathews in the third quarter of Sunday's game.

Black was taken from the field on a stretcher. Coach Greg Schiano said Black "overall is going to be OK" but said the injury is serious, and is causing complications with Black's left arm.

"He's having some complications with his left arm, so there's still further tests he has to go through before we can make a definitive statement," said Schiano. "But it's serious and how much time that means? We're going to have to see. As soon as we know, we'll let you know. But obviously, it's not good."

Black could be placed on injured reserve with the Buccaneers dealing with multiple injuries on the defensive side fo the ball.

Schiano coached at Rutgers in 2010 when defensive tackle Eric LeGrand was paralyzed on a kickoff return against Army.

"The good part of it, having been down this road when you start down it, it's scary, is that other than the left arm, he's got full function and we'll just kind of work through this now," Schiano said.
