Tampa Bay Buccaneers cornerback Johnthan Banks is active and will play Sunday against the Philadelphia Eagles, despite being diagnosed with MRSA last week.
Guard Carl Nicks, who had a reoccurrence of the infection, was ruled out.
Banks was examined by team doctors and an independent expert late in the week.
Banks, a rookie, is the third Tampa Bay player to be diagnosed with MRSA, a severe staph infection that is resistant to some antibiotics. Kicker Lawrence Tynes and Nicks were previously diagnosed with MRSA in August. The infections affected the Buccaneers' locker room and had to be disinfected.
Tynes, who was placed on the non-football injury list, is still being treated. Nicks did not play until Week 3.
