The Phoenix Suns and Milwaukee Bucks are engaged in trade talks that would send Caron Butler and his expiring contract to Milwaukee.
The Racine Journal Times reported the trade could be finalized on Friday. With the Bucks committed to trying to make the playoffs and the Suns in rebuilding mode, the trade makes sense for both teams.
The Bucks have been busy this offseason with trades an free-agent signings, and appear set at every position except small forward, which is where Butler plays.
The 33-year-old Butler is from Racine, about 20 miles from Milwaukee. He started 78 games last season for the Los Angeles Clippers, averaging a little more than 10 points per game.
Butler was traded to the Suns in the offseason as part of a three-team deal involving guards Eric Bledsoe and J.J. Redick.
