LEXINGTON, Va. (AP) -- Brandon Wesley ran for one touchdown and threw for another on Saturday and the defense added a score on a fumble recovery as Bucknell came from behind to beat VMI 35-23.
Wesley opened the game with a 27-yard scoring run, but VMI (2-10, 1-5 Big South) came back to lead 10-7 at halftime on a 5-yard TD run by Deon Watts and a 52-yard field goal by Dillon Christopher.
The Keydets extended their lead to 17-14 in the third quarter on another Christopher field goal and an 8-yard TD run by A.J. Augustine, but Bucknell (6-5, 4-2 Patriot) replied with 21 unanswered points. Wesley hit C.J. Williams with a 48-yard scoring pass in the third quarter, and Williams added a 3-yard scoring run.
The defense scored with 1:35 to play when Tracey Smith sacked Augustine, forcing a fumble that Matt Johnson picked up and returned 30 yards for a score.
