The Tampa Bay Buccaneers announced that left tackle Donald Penn has been promoted from the non-football.
That clears the veteran to begin practicing with three weeks until the start of the regular season.
Penn failed the team’s physical at the start of training camp as he sustained a calf injury during the offseason working out on his own in California. So, this signals he has passed his physical.
Penn did not play Friday night in the Bucs’ second preseason game vs. the Tennessee Titans but if all goes smoothly he should play next week. The veteran has started 76 consecutive games for Tampa at lef tackle, second on the team behind defensive back Ronde Barber, who has made 199 consecutive starts.
