Buccaneers CB Talib suspended four games

The Buccaneers placed CB Aqib Talib on injured reserve on Monday and signed DT Jovan Haye.

Talib, a former first-round pick, suffered a hamstring injury in Week 13. He missed the team's Week 14 game against the Jaguars, but attempted to play last Saturday against the Cowboys. However he reaggravated the injury early in the game and was forced to leave.

His season ends with 42 tackles and two interceptions, both of which were returned for touchdowns.

Haye played for the Bucs from 2006-08, starting in 45 games during that span. He most recently suited up for the Lions, when he recorded a pair of tackles in their Week 14 win over the Vikings.

The way we see it

Talib has been one of the Bucs' top playmakers on defense since he entered the league in 2008, but his absence gives the team a chance to see what younger corners like second-year veteran Myron Lewis and rookie Anthony Gaitor can do.

It's possible that Talib has played his last game with the Bucs. The outcome of the trial for a shooting incident he allegedly was involved in last March in Texas will help decide his future.
