    Bryce Alderson Blog: An Introduction

    Hey Goal.com readers,

    First off, a brief introduction.

I'm Bryce Alderson, I'm from Kitchener, Ontario. I'm 18 years old and I play for the Vancouver Whitecaps of MLS.

I signed with the club during the offseason and I'm obviously very excited about that. I'm also a member of the Canadian U-23 Olympic team that was recently trying to qualify in the States.

It's been a big year for me. Signing with the Whitecaps was a crazy experience. My family was in town for about a week last year and Richard, the head of the academy, pulled me into his office along with my family and said that the club was looking to sign me to a contract.

That was a huge day and it came as a bit of a surprise, but at the same it was a big relief and was obviously very exciting, since that's what I've been working for my whole life.

So far I've been enjoying it a lot, and I'm looking forward to the rest of the season. Hopefully it's a good one for the team and I'll get a chance to prove myself.

It's also huge year ahead for me off the field. Right now I'm actually still trying get my license.

I never went for my beginner's when I turned 16, so I'm a little bit late on that. I finally got my G1 (learner's permit) back in Ontario about a year ago, and I've practiced driving out here a bit. I would say I'm a half-decent driver.

The only problem is that out here the licensing system is L (learner's) and N (novice), and if I want to get my N there's some sort of rule that I need to rewrite my L, which of course I don't have!

It's been a bit of a mess trying to sort through it, but hopefully I get it figured out and get my N in a couple of weeks.

That'll be good because the guys on the team love to have a bit of fun with my driving situation. After training, they'll head for their cars and drive by me while I'm waiting at the bus stop, and they make sure I see them before they drive off!

They like to poke fun a little bit, that's for sure.

As for this blog, I'm looking forward to building a better relationship with the fans, and hopefully you guys can get to know me a littler bit better too. I'll certainly try to post what's going on in my life and try to keep it fun and upbeat.

    Bryce
