Since the last time we spoke, I went through a bit of a licensing fiasco. I failed one test and passed the next one so I've got my driver's license now, but it wasn't the easiest of experiences.
In my first test, I thought I was doing okay. I was driving well, everything seemed good, but apparently I was doing 40 in a 30 zone, which is an automatic fail. I was not happy with myself afterward, and I sat there cursing myself in the parking lot for making such a silly mistake.
The testers don't say what you've done wrong until after the test is over, so it felt even worse when I thought I was doing well enough to pass the entire time.
It was all good though, because I went back a couple of weeks later and passed without any problems, so at least that is finally over. And of course, no more bus or SkyTrain for me, and no more trying to hitch a ride with my teammates!
It feels good to be able to cross that one off my list, for sure.
On the soccer side of things, I've been busy with the national team again. The U20s went to Florida recently for a camp, which has become my home away from home in recent months.
Nothing against South Florida, which is where many of these Canadian team camps are held, but I've been there a lot, and no matter what time of year it is it just seems to get hotter and hotter.
Fortunately this camp was a short one, only about seven days or so. We played Trinidad and Tobago twice and beat them both times, so that was definitely a positive for the team going forward.
And of course, it's always good to get together with the guys on the team. I've been playing with a bunch of them for years, most recently with the U17 team, and they're all over the map with their clubs.

Some are in Europe, some in Toronto, some in Montreal. With the way everyone is scattered, we don't get to see each other very often, so these camps are good to not only further our development, but also to catch up with some friends.
Luckily, it won't be that long until we all get to see each other again. Starting this week, we'll all be heading to Spain for a U20 camp out there. It was originally supposed to be in Chile, but for some reason that didn't work out, which means now we head to Spain instead.
I'm almost packed up and ready to go, so I'll catch up with you guys later!
