rookie linebacker Barkevious Mingo
has been ruled out from playing Sunday's season opener against the Miami Dolphins
Although Mingo has practiced on a limited basis this week, Browns coach Rob Chudzinski said Friday that the No. 6 overall draft pick will not play because of the bruised lung he sustained during the preseason.
Mingo was injured during the Aug. 15 preseason game against the Detroit Lions
. He experienced shortness of breath and spit up blood, and spent two nights in a hospital.
How he suffered the injury remains a mystery. He was not hit hard on the chest nor did he break a rib.
