Browns hire Farmer as assistant GM

Michael Lombardi is returning to Cleveland.

The Browns named Lombardi, the former NFL Network analyst, their vice president of player personnel, the team announced Friday.

Lombardi has been with the NFL Network and NFL.com since 2008 after spending eight seasons in the Raiders’ player personnel department. He was with the Eagles from 1997-98.

In 1987, Lombardi joined the Browns’ scouting staff, and was named the pro personnel director in 1989, a title he held until 1993.

Lombardi joins Joe Banner in the Browns’ front office under new owner Jimmy Haslam, with head coach Rob Chudzinski, who was hired this past week.
