Brothers, Richmond beats Old Dominion 90-82 in OT

RICHMOND, Va. (AP) Darrien Brothers finished with seven 3-pointers and scored 12 of his 38 points in overtime to lead Richmond over Old Dominion 90-82 on Tuesday night.

Brothers made a four-point play 17 seconds into the extra period, and teammate Derrick Williams made a free throw to put the Spiders (7-5) ahead 77-72 with 3:31 to play. Richmond stretched its lead to 84-77 with 1:20 left before going 6 of 8 from the free-throw line the rest of the way to seal it. The Spiders avoided their first four-game losing streak since 2009.

Brothers was 9 of 15 from the field, with 11 3-point attempts, and was 13 of 14 from the foul line. Williams finished with 18 points.

Kent Bazemore, who hit a 3 with 2 seconds to go to send it into overtime, 72-72, had 20 points for Old Dominion (5-6). Chris Cooper had 21 for the Monarchs.
