Broncos will start Brock Osweiler, sit Peyton Manning vs. Tom Brady and Patriots

After a solid game in his debut, Brock Osweilerwill remain the Broncos’ starting quarterback for at least another week.

Osweiler will start in place of Peyton Manning for Sunday night’s game against the Patriots, Chris Mortensen of ESPN reports.

The question now facing the Broncos is whether Manning will ever get the starting job back. Although the official word coming out of Denver has been that Manning sat out Sunday because of rib and foot injuries, the reality is that Osweiler looked better on Sunday than Manning has at any point all season. And if Osweiler keeps playing that way, why would he ever give the job back to Manning?

It’s a delicate situation in Denver. Gary Kubiak doesn’t want to say or do anything that would show a lack of respect for his first-ballot Hall of Fame quarterback. But Kubiak’s job is to play his best players, and right now his best quarterback is Osweiler.
