NBC got a 16.2 overnight Nielsen rating for Thursday night's NFL opener in which the Denver Broncos routed the Baltimore Ravens 49-27, according to Sports Business Daily. The rating was down two percent from last year's Dallas Cowboys-New York Giants matchup that kicked off the 2012 season. That game aired on a Wednesday night because of a conflict with the Democratic National Convention. Thursday's game was also down six percent from the 2011 season opener between the New Orleans Saints and Green Bay Packers. That game, which picked up a 17.2 overnight, was also aired on a Thursday. Despite that, NBC still won the primetime ratings battle for the night. The game received the best Thursday primetime overnight for any program on any network since the 2012 Olympics. The game earned a 43.9 local rating in Denver and a 37.6 rating in Baltimore.
