A judge sentenced Denver Broncos director of player personnel Matt Russell to seven months in jail and two years' probation on Friday.

Russell pleaded guilty to DUI, careless driving and possession of an open container of alcohol. According to reports, Colorado Judicial Branch spokesman Rob McCallum said Russell will be eligible for work release.

Under a Colorado law that provides credit based on time served, Russell's sentence should be completed in 3 1/2 months.

The Broncos suspended Russell in July 2013 on the DUI charge in Breckenridge, Colo, after he crashed into a police vehicle. Russell was involved an another accident earlier that evening.

Russell, hired by the Broncos in 2009, was promoted to director of player personnel in January 2012.
