A's bring back Carignan and Cowgill, send down Miller and Taylor

The Oakland A's recalled right-handed pitcher Andrew Carignan and outfielder Collin Cowgill from Class AAA Sacramento and optioned right-handed pitcher Jim Miller and outfielder Michael Taylor to Sacramento, the club announced on Friday.

Carignan was on the A's Opening Day roster and posted a 6.23 ERA in five relief appearances before he was optioned to Sacramento on April 17. He appeared in seven games with the River Cats with a 1.64 ERA and .158 opponents' batting average.

Cowgill also started the season with the A's but was sent down to Sacramento on April 17 after going 0 for 4 with three walks in three games. He batted .282 with two home runs and 16 RBI in 19 games with the River Cats.

Miller was 1-0 with a 1.93 ERA in six relief appearances with Oakland. Taylor went 3 for 16 (.188) in four games with the A's since being recalled from Sacramento on May 4.
