Milwaukee Brewers minor-league pitcher Alan Williams received a 50-game suspension without pay on Tuesday after a second positive drug test, the commissioner's office announced.
Williams, a left-hander on the double-A Huntsville (Ala.) roster, was suspended for a drug of abuse in violation of the Minor League Drug Prevention and Treatment Program. The suspension begins immediately.
The 23-year-old Williams is 0-2 with a 3.00 ERA in three starts and 10 relief appearances for Huntsville in the Southern League this year. He signed with the Brewers' organization in May 2011.
