Brewers acquire right-hander Badenhop in trade with Rays

The SportsXchange

The Milwaukee Brewers added an arm to their pitching staff Saturday, obtaining right-hander Burke Badenhop from Tampa Bay in a trade for minor-league outfielder Raul Mondesi Jr.

Badenhop, 29, worked out of the Rays' bullpen this past season and had a 3-2 record with a 3.03 ERA in 56 appearances spanning 62 1/3 innings. He was tendered a contract by the Rays before the Friday night deadline as an arbitration-eligible player. The right-hander's salary was $1.075 million last year.

Mondesi, 20, is the son of former major leaguer Raul Mondesi. He played outfield during the 2012 season with Helena in the Pioneer League for rookie-level players and hit .231 with five homers and 32 RBI.
