Brewers 1B Gamel out for season

Milwaukee Brewers first baseman Mat Gamel will miss the entire season after recently reinjuring his surgically-repaired right knee during batting practice.

Manager Ron Roenicke told reporters about Gamel's status on Monday.

Gamel was filling in for regular first baseman Corey Hart, who is recovering from knee surgery.

The Brewers will have to look elsewhere for a first baseman while Hart is out. He is expected to miss at least the first month of the season.

Gamel played in just 21 games before he tore his ACL in 2012. Over a five-year career, Gamel has batted .229 with six home runs in 106 games.
