Recommendation: Lawrie has been working his way back since injuring his ribs in early March, but he needs a bit more time to recover, and will not be ready for Opening Day. Though Lawrie will miss the opener, he will play in minor league games the rest of the spring so that the Blue Jays can retroactively place him on the DL. As long as Lawrie avoids any setbacks, he will miss only the first few games of the season, rather than the first two weeks of action. Maicer Izturis and Mark DeRosa figures to share the work at the hot corner until Lawrie is activated.
