Brees breaks Unitas' TD record

New Orleans Saints quarterback Drew Brees set an NFL record with a touchdown pass in his 48th consecutive game on Sunday night at home against the San Diego Chargers.

Brees, who tied Johnny Unitas' record of 47 consecutive games in Week 5, set the new benchmark with a 40-yard pass to wide receiver Devery Henderson to tie the score 7-7 with 2:58 remaining in the first quarter.

Suspended General Manager Mickey Loomis and coaches Sean Payton and Joe Vitt were on-hand to witness the record-setting touchdown pass after Brees requested they be allowed to attend the game.

"They are all a part of that, and I felt like they certainly deserved the opportunity to be there in attendance and share that moment with us," Brees said during the week.
