Breaking down Heath Miller's restructured deal

National Football Post

The Steelers signed tight end Heath Miller to a three-year restructured deal, which replaces the original contract that was set to expire after the upcoming season.

Here's a look at what Miller is slated to earn:

In 2014, Miller's base salary will be $1.02 million, $5 million less than it was originally. However, that $5 million has been converted into a signing bonus, which will be prorated over the next three seasons.

With other bonuses, Miller's cap figure will be $6.13 million for the 2014 season. The Steelers are able to save over $3 million as Miller's original deal had him at a cap figure of $9.46 million.

In 2015, Miller will receive a $4 million base salary and carry a rounded-up $5.67 million cap figure.

In 2016, Miller's base compensation will be $4 million and he'll also have a rounded-up $5.67 million cap number.
