Neymar and Cristiano Ronaldo will do battle in La Liga as members of rival clubs this coming season, but the two stars will meet on the international level this fall as well. Follow GOAL.COM on Twitter
Brazil and Portugal will play a friendly at Gillette Stadium in Foxboro, Mass., on Sept. 10, the New England Revolution announced on Tuesday. Since the match falls on a FIFA international fixture date, both squads are expected to have their top-choice players available. That means Neymar, fresh off his move to Barcelona and a Golden Ball-winning performance in the FIFA Confederations Cup, and Ronaldo, who is expected to remain at Real Madrid despite transfer rumors, will be on show.
For Brazil, the match represents a tough challenge after its Confederations Cup triumph. The competition provided the last meaningful set of games for the Selecao before the 2014 World Cup, as Brazil does not have qualifying matches to play. Portugal, meanwhile, is in the midst of attempting to qualify and is currently atop UEFA's Group F, although Russia trails by just two points with two games in hand.
