New York Jets wide receiver Brandon Marshall took to Instagram and offered a challenge to Pittsburgh Steelers wide receiver Antonio Brown. The challenge is that whomever ends the 2016 season with the most yards gets the other players car.

Marshall drives a Porsche while Brown a Rolls Royce. On the surface, the deal hardly seems fair to me. I would much rather have the Rolls Royce any day of the week.

For fun, let’s break down the proposal and see if Marshall could beat Brown for more receiving yards.

Last season, Marshall hauled in a franchise record 109 receptions for 1,502 yards. Brown hauled in 136 passes for 1,834 yards. Brown bested Marshall by 332 yards last season.

In 2014, Brown had 1,698 receiving yards and 129 catches. Marshall had 105 catches for 721 yards. 2013 saw Brown receiving 110 balls for 1,499 yards and Marshall grabbed 100 passes for 1,295.

Basically, in the last three seasons, Brown has beat Marshall in yards and receptions. If we were to look at the other three years of head-to-head productivity, Marshall wins those three seasons. I am only concerned with the last three years because Brown found his stride during that time.

Sorry Marshall, but I don’t see you beating Brown in yards or catches this year. Although Marshall had a great year last season, the players are just on different swings of their respective careers. Brown still on the upside and Marshall is on the downslope.

I don’t think the pair is really going to be placing bets on the cars because that feels like Roger Goodell would put an end to it. As on Redditor pointed out, the Jets recently struck a deal with Porsche, so this is viral marketing at its best.

Advertisiment or not, it’s still fun to think who would do better. With the Steelers having a better quarterback situation and what Brown has done over the last few years, I would have to say he takes the Porsche on this one.
