Buzzing on Yahoo Sports:

Brandon Jacobs rooting for 49ers in Super Bowl

National Football Post

Brandon Jacobs would be playing for his second Super Bowl ring in two seasons and third overall had he just stuck around with the San Francisco 49ers.

But the veteran running back, who was suspended last month for conduct detrimental to the team and then eventually released, is still rooting for the 49ers to win Super Bowl XLVII. That is what Jacobs told Mike Garafolo of USA Today.

Jacobs’ troubles began when he continually complained about his role and a lack of playing time in the offense.

My emotions are I want the 49ers to win the game," Jacobs told Garafolo. "I don't have any regrets about not being there whatsoever. I don't feel like I should've done things differently. I don't feel anything else. I'm a hundred percent happy where I am."

Jacobs says he was promised 12 carries a game when he signed in San Francisco as a free agent after he couldn’t work out a contract restructuring with the Giants. He says he would have been OK with fewer than that. But he didn’t dress often and when he did he was rarely utilized.

"Conduct detrimental to the team, to me, is bashing the team, getting in trouble, distracting the team, whatever. However, I don't think it was that bad," he said. "It came across being disrespectful or whatever it was. I didn't mean to disrespect anybody or hurt anybody's feelings. I didn't have any disrespect. I didn't mean to do any of that. I was told I would get some of the pie and I didn't. That kind of made me a little upset and made me snap.

“No one knew what was going on. Fans will be fans. I liked going out there. I really didn't mean to hurt anybody's feelings."

Jacobs is hoping to land somewhere else in 2013. We’ll see if that happens.
