WBO light welterweight champion Timothy Bradley is currently set to face Manny Pacquiao on June 9, and he's pretty confident he'll be victorious when the two collide at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas, NV. Like many boxing fans, Bradley will be keeping an eye on the May 5 fight between Floyd Mayweather and Miguel Cotto. And he wants a piece of the sports' pound-for-pound king after he secures Pacquiao's WBO welterweight title.
"He's beatable. Floyd Mayweather is beatable too," Bradley said during an interview with Chris Robinson. "He's the next one on my list. After I take care of Pacquiao, I'm going to take care of Floyd Mayweather next. … You can't outbox Mayweather; you've just got to hit him anywhere you possibly can. You can't swing at the head, you got to attack the body, stay close to him, and don't let him work. And that's' how you beat Floyd Mayweather, you keep him busy. And if you keep him busy and you are able to elude the counter punches, you're in the fight."
In terms of his theory on how to defeat Mayweather, Bradley does make some good points, but he certainly doesn't want to overlook Pacquiao.
Pacquiao might not be at his very best right now - due to his legal problems in the Philippines and the departure of strength and conditioning coach Alex Ariza, but he'll still be Bradley's toughest test to date. I do like Bradley's chances of pulling off the upset, but that will only happen if he's 100 percent focused on the job at hand.
Besides, a Mayweather-Bradley fight is highly unlikely even if he wins, considering the fact Saul "Canelo" Alvarez will likely get the next shot at Mayweather. Obviously, the result of Alvarez' fight against Shane Mosley will affect the potential for a bout with Mayweather, who still has to get past Miguel Cotto on May 5.
With so many big fights looming around the corner, it's pretty hard to project what will happen later on this year. I do expect at least one upset when it's all said and done, and it'll be interesting to see who goes down.
