Boxer Winky Wright announces his retirement

Two days after losing to Peter Quillin, former world junior middleweight champion Winky Wright announced his retirement on Monday, according to ESPN.com.

"I'm gonna call it a day. I'm gonna chill out and play golf and live life," the 40-year-old Wright told ESPN.com.

Wright's announcement came the same day that Shane Mosley announced his retirement, and in both cases the decision came after a loss to a much younger fighter.

Wright had not fought in more than three years when he took on the 26-year-old Quillin on Saturday.

But Quillin knocked Wright down in the fifth round and won a lopsided unanimous 10-round decision over Wright.

Wright finished with a record of 51-6-1 with 25 KOs. His last victory was against former welterweight titlist Ike Quartey in December 2006.

Wright won his first world title by outpointing Bronco McKart in 1996.
