Bowers gets off pleading guilty to disorderly conduct

National Football Post

Felony gun charges that could have led Da’Quan Bowers down the same path to prison as Plaxico Burress have been reduced.

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers defensive end appeared in New York court this morning and received a major relief. The felony gun charges he received for carrying a .40 caliber handgun in a bag at La Guardia Airport in February have been eliminated.

According to Mike Garafolo of USA Today, Bowers pled guilty to disorderly conduct and received a $250 fine. That’s a huge score for Bowers and the Buccaneers as he could have faced the same 3 ½-year minimum sentence that Burress drew after shooting himself in the leg.

Now, Bowers can go about his business with the Bucs having learned a valuable lesson that hopefully others will understand.
