Boston Red Sox at Cleveland Indians, August 10, 2012: Fan Preview

Yahoo Contributor Network

I would hate to speak too soon but it appears as if the Cleveland Indians are back on track after a solid victory over the Boston Red Sox in the opening game of their four-game series on Thursday, August 9. Ubaldo Jimenez pitched one of his better performances of the season giving up just three runs on eight hits while striking out 10 in six innings pitched. Chris Perez, with a clean-shaven face, pitched a perfect ninth inning to seal the victory. Finally the Indians team we have witnessed most of the season returned.

Back-to-back victories in any other circumstance would not be an accomplishment, but following an abysmal 11-game losing streak, the fact the team is back on track should give fans a reason to rejoice. The Indians are playing quality baseball again.

Chris Seddon will take the mound on Friday in an attempt to lead the club to its third straight victory over the struggling Red Sox. Boston has won just three of their last 10 games giving the Indians hope they can break out of their slump by taking advantage of Boston's. Clay Buchholz will provide a challenge for the Tribe bats but only if they let him. This is the same team that beat the Detroit Tigers' Justin Verlander twice this season.

The matchup:

The Cleveland Indians will take on the Boston Red Sox at Progressive Field located in Cleveland, Ohio on Friday, August 10, 2012 at 7:05 p.m. EDT.
