Boldin says he'll retire if cut by Ravens

The SportsXchange

Baltimore Ravens wide receiver Anquan Boldin told NBC Sports radio on Friday that will retire if the Baltimore Ravens released him.

"I won't play in another uniform," Boldin said. "We have a saying: once a Raven, always a Raven. And I'll always be a Raven."

Boldin, 32, has one year left on his four-year, $25 million contract, and is due $6 million next season. The Ravens could cut him for salary cap reasons since quarterback Joe Flacco, linebackers Dannell Ellerbe and Paul Kruger, and safety Ed Reed -- all starters -- will become unrestricted free agents.

"I think you go out and let your play speak for itself," Boldin said. "You deal with that if you have to, but, I think for me -- I know for me -- Baltimore is the only place I want to play."

Boldin caught 65 passes for 921 yards with four touchdowns in 15 games in 2012. He caught six passes for 104 yards with a score in the Ravens' 34-31 win over the San Francisco 49ers in the Super Bowl.

Boldin has been with the Ravens for three seasons after starting his career with the Arizona Cardinals.
