Syracuse's Jim Boeheim tied Bob Knight for second place in the Division I coaching victories when the seventh-ranked Orange beat Central Connecticut State 96-62 Monday.
Boeheim and Knight each have 902 wins. The all-time record holder for the top division of college basketball is Mike Krzyzewski, who has 939 victories.
Orange guard Michael Carter-Williams contributed 18 points, nine rebounds and 13 assists in the blowout of the Blue Devils at the Carrier Dome in Syracuse, N.Y. Three other players scored 13 points apiece for Syracuse (12-1).
Matt Hunter led Central Connecticut State (4-7) with 18 points.
Boeheim will seek to snap the tie with Knight when Syracuse opens Big East Conference play Wednesday with a home game against Rutgers (9-2). The Scarlet Knights are riding a five-game winning streak, though none of the games was against a power-conference opponent.
