Bob Learn Jr Has Shot to Make PBA Hall of Fame: A Fan's Take

The title match of the PBA Senior Mooresville Classic was held on Wednesday, May 9, and Bob Learn Jr was able to defeat Ron Profitt by the score of 203-197. This was only Bob Learn Jr's third tournament on the Senior tour, and he already has a title. He was able to finish in ninth place in the two other tournaments this season. Bob Learn Jr has shown the skills and poise to be able to win several more titles during his career on the PBA Senior tour. I believe Bob Learn Jr has a legitimate shot at making the PBA Hall of Fame if he is able to win several more Senior tour titles due to his solid career on the PBA tour and PBA Regional tour.

Bob Learn Jr had a very respectable career during his time on the PBA tour. Learn was able to win five titles in his career, including the 1999 U.S. Open. The U.S. Open is considered to be the toughest tournament on the PBA tour, so it takes an extreme amount of talent to be able to win the tournament. Learn has also be able to be very dominant on the PBA Regional tour, where he has over 20 titles. I believe if you combine his previous accomplishments with about 5 titles on the PBA Senior tour, then Bob Learn Jr has a very good chance to make the PBA Hall of Fame. I think that he would be deserving because he would prove that he was able to be successful on all three levels of the PBA, and he also had the ability to win at various points in his career. The pure longevity and success of his career should be enough to get him in to the Hall of Fame.

While all of this is hinging on Learn winning at least 5 titles on the Senior tour, I believe that should be no problem for a bowler of his caliber. Bob Learn Jr has just turned 50, so he will have a lot of years to rack up titles on the Senior tour. Based on what he has shown this season, I would not be surprised to see Learn win a few more titles on the Senior tour this season. The PBA Senior tour is filled some of the best bowlers to ever live and it gets tougher each year, which will only legitimize every title won on the tour. The PBA Hall of Fame is filled with the best bowlers of all-time, and you should not be shocked if Bob Learn Jr joins in the near future.

Jake has been an avid bowler since the age of 8, and regularly follows the PBA throughout the year.
