The SportsXchange

The Toronto Blue Jays claimed infielder-outfielder Matt Tuiasosopo off waivers from the Arizona Diamondbacks and released left-hander Luis Perez on Thursday to make room on the 40-man roster.

Tuiasosopo batted .244 with seven home runs and 30 RBIs with the Detroit Tigers last season. He was claimed by the Diamondbacks off waives in November.

The 27-year-old utility player has a .207 career batting average with 12 homers and 45 RBIs with the Tigers and Seattle Mariners.

Perez had a 5-6 record with a 4.50 ERA in 78 appearances with the Blue Jays since 2011.
