Blue Jays' Johnson to the DL; Romero to return

Toronto Blue Jays right-hander Josh Johnson landed on the 15-day disabled list Thursday with right triceps inflammation.

His absence will pave the way for left-hander Ricky Romero's return to the big leagues.

Johnson, 29, missed his scheduled start against the New York Yankees last week because of tightness in the triceps. An MRI that revealed no structural damage.

Reliever Brad Lincoln was recalled from Triple-A Buffalo to fill Johnson's spot on the active roster, but Romero will be promoted to take Johnson's turn in the rotation. The lefty was sent to Single-A Dunedin after a poor spring to work on his mechanics. He compiled a 5.77 ERA and 1.67 WHIP in 181 innings last season.

Johnson, who arrived as part of the blockbuster offseason deal with the Miami Marlins, went 0-1 with a 6.86 ERA in his first four starts with Toronto.
