The Toronto Blue Jays claimed catcher Eli Whiteside off waivers Monday, according to Fox Sports.
After winning the World Series, the Giants waived Whiteside, who played sparingly for the team. The New York Yankees grabbed Whiteside in late November, but designated him for assignment two days later.
Whiteside gives the Blue Jays four catchers. They also non-tendered Bobby Wilson last week. Toronto might trade either J.P. Arencibia or the recently-acquired John Buck.
