The Columbus Blue Jackets traded goalie Steve Mason to the Philadelphia Flyers on Wednesday for goaltender Michael Leighton and a third-round draft pick, according to reports.
Mason, 24, has struggled since winning the Calder Trophy as the NHL's top rookie in 2009. This year, his record is 3-6-1 with a .899 save percentage as a backup to hot goalie Sergei Bobrovsky, who came to Columbus from Philadelphia in a deal last summer.
Mason is expected to back up Flyers starter Ilya Bryzgalov.
