Blue Jackets extend C Letestu's contract

The Columbus Blue Jackets signed center Mark Letestu to a two-year contract extension, the team announced Tuesday.

The deal is worth $2.5 million and counts $1.25 million annually against the team's salary cap, according to The Columbus Dispatch.

"Mark is a smart, versatile forward who brings consistency and a great work ethic every time he takes the ice and we are very pleased to have him remain with our hockey club," Jackets general manager Jarmo Kekalainen said.

Letestu, 28, scored the winning goal in Columbus' 2-1 overtime victory over Anaheim on Sunday. He has 20 goals and 24 assists in 85 games since coming to the Blue Jackets in a Nov. 8, 2011, trade with Pittsburgh. This season, Letestu has nine goals and 11 assists.
