Borussia Dortmund winger Jakub Blaszczykowski has extended his contract with the club for five years, keeping him at Signal Iduna Park until June 2018.
The Poland skipper scored 11 goals and provided 12 assists during 27 Bundesliga appearances this season, and sporting director Michael Zorc is delighted that he decided to commit to the club, especially considering the likes of Mario Gotze has left for Bayern Munich and Robert Lewandowski could be following him there.
"With his character and quality on the pitch, Kuba is an important asset for our team," Zorc told the club's official website. "He has made quite a splash around Europe last season. We are happy that we can plan with him on a long-term basis for the future."
Meanwhile, Kuba himself has voiced his pleasure at signing a new deal, saying the city has become like a home to him.
"By now, Dortmund is like a second home to me. When my contract expires, I'll be able to look back on 10 years at BVB," Blaszczykowski said. "I'm very, very proud that a top-class side like Borussia Dortmund have so much trust in me."
