Blackhawks acquire G LaBarbera from Oilers

The Chicago Blackhawks acquired goaltender Jason LaBarbera from the Edmonton Oilers for future considerations, the Blackhawks announced Saturday.

The team will assign LaBarbera to the Rockford IceHogs of the American Hockey League.

LaBarbera was 1-3-0 with a 3.28 goals-against average and an .870 save percentage in seven games with Edmonton this season. He also went 0-1-1 with a 1.93 goals-against average and a .953 save percentage in two games with the Oklahoma City Barons of the AHL.

For his career, the 33-year-old is 60-73-19 with six shutouts, a 2.86 goals-against average and a .907 save percentage in 182 career NHL games with the New York Rangers, Los Angeles Kings, Vancouver Canucks, Phoenix Coyotes and Oilers. He was the AHL's MVP in 2003-04 is a two-time winner of the Baz Bastein Trophy (2003-04 and 2006-07) as the AHL's best goaltender.

LaBarbera was taken by the Rangers in the third round of the 1998 draft.
