COLUMBIA, S.C. (AP) -- Kevin Herbst rushed for 132 yards and two fourth-quarter touchdowns as Bishop England won its second consecutive Class 2A Division II state championship with a 21-0 victory over Abbeville Friday night.
The Bishops scored on the third play from scrimmage on a halfback pass from Nick Theos to Jamie Garrett that covered 62 yards.
Bishop England (13-1) dominated defensively and sealed the win on Herbst's 2-yard run with 8:35 remaining. That completed a 14-play, 73-yard drive that consumed 7:09. Herbst added a 29-yard scoring run with 1:43 left.
This is the second straight season the Bishops posted a shutout in the finals. They defeated Central 10-0 last year.
O'Bryan Wilson led the way for Abbeville (11-3) with 141 yards rushing, accounting for most of the Panthers' 182 yards of total offense.
Abbeville had won the past two Class A Division I state titles, but moved up in classification this season.
