Billy Hamilton: Reds Having "Very Serious Discussions" About Bringing Him Up

Update: Reds GM Walt Jocketty said the Reds are having "very serious discussions" about bringing Hamilton to the majors when rosters expand Saturday, the St. Louis Post-Dispatch reports.

Recommendation: "I don't think he's ready to play at this level but he certainly could run the bases," Jocketty said. The 21-year-old Hamilton has hit .313/.435/.424 since joining Double-A Pensacola, and he's stolen a minor-league record 149 bases between Pensacola and High-A Bakersfield, but it seems the Reds are hesitant to bring Hamilton up because, as Jocketty put it, "How often would we be in position to use him to pinch run?"
