Buzzing on Yahoo Sports:

Bills wanted Carlos Hyde in the draft

National Football Post

The San Francisco 49ers traded up to get running back Carlos Hyde in the second round. But they weren't the only team after the bruising runner from Ohio State.

The Buffalo Bills, via the team's website, were trying to maneuver up to take Hyde at the 57th overall spot. They reached out to Miami and offered a trade. However, the Dolphins called back and told them that they'd be making a deal with the 49ers instead.

“What we were told by Miami was the 49ers deal was more appealing because they didn’t have to drop down as far because San Francisco still had a pick in the second round (at 61) so that made sense to them and it made sense to us,” Bills general manager Doug Whaley said.

The rest is history. Hyde became a Niner and will be a part of a fairly stocked group of running backs.

The Bills ended up swinging a trade for former Eagles running back Bryce Brown, to go along with C.J. Spiller and Fred Jackson. Still, the Bills were hoping to build their future ground game with Hyde.
