The SportsXchange

Cornerback Terrence McGee was released by the Buffalo Bills on Thursday.

McGee is the third noteworthy veteran to be let go since Doug Marrone was hired as head coach.

General manager Buddy Nix said "Terrence has been a contributor to the Bills organization for 10 years and we thank him for his efforts on the field and off. We wish him the best of luck in the future."

McGee, 32, didn't start and played in just seven games last season because of a knee injury. He had only nine starts in the past three seasons combined in just 22 games played (out of 48).

Overall, he started 91 of 122 games in which he played since he joined the Bills as a fourth-round (111th overall) draft choice in 2003 and totaled 103 passes defensed and 17 interceptions while amassing 543 tackles (450 solo).

He also hold the record for kickoff return yards (5,450), attempts (207) and kickoff return touchdowns (five). His 26.3-yard kickoff-return average is fifth-best in team history. He was voted to the 2005 Pro Bowl.

The Bills also announced the signing of two free agents, quarterback Aaron Corp and offensive linemen Hutch Eckerson.
