C.J. Spiller had a big day for the offense, but it was not enough to avoid a late defeat for the Bills against the Falcons, 34-31, at home.
E.J. Manuel found the end zone two times (1 pass, 1 rush) on 18 of 32 passing for 210 yards and no interceptions. Matt Ryan completed 28 of 47 passes for 311 yards, one touchdown and one fumble for the Falcons.
Spiller was a standout player for the Bills, rushing for 149 yards on 15 attempts while adding a touchdown. In the fourth quarter, he got loose for a 38-yard score. Scott Chandler caught four passes for 63 yards and one fumble.
The Buffalo defense allowed 151 yards rushing and 311 passing. They roughed up Ryan with six sacks.
Falcons wide receiver Roddy White could not be contained, putting up 143 receiving yards. Running back Steven Jackson also put together a noteworthy performance with 84 rushing yards and two touchdowns.
The Bills travel to Tampa next week to meet the Buccaneers (3-9) while the Falcons visit Green Bay to take on the Packers (5-6).
