D.A. Points and Bill Murray are ready to go at Pebble Beach. Last year the dynamic duo won the tournament, and the hearts of the crowd. In defense of their 2011 victory, Murray and Points will have to face even stiffer competition this time around. At 60 years old, Murray has a 13-handicap, and is a frequent golfer.

Murray, as likable off screen as he is on, is a big attraction, and the masses always flock to watch him play. Always quick with a witty remark, he knows when to get serious on the green. Friends with Points for years, they make a fitting pair on the course and fit together like hand and glove.

The 3M Celebrity Challenge pitting Bill Murray against Tony Romo and an entire ensemble of well- known personalities, starts Wednesday at 11:00 am. Along with Murray and Romo, Eric Close, Michael Bolton, Bill Belichick, and George Lopez, just to name a few, will be on the course, set to play and entertain.

Ready to stop Murray's winning streak at one, Tiger Woods is back and he is pumped. Tiger has been in training, working on his swing and doing what it takes to be a winner. Paired with Tony Romo, quarterback for the Dallas cowboys, the two will try to pull the quarterback sneak and slip around last year's winners for the victory.

Romo is as excited about playing the AT&T Pro-Am with woods, as he would be directing the Dallas Cowboys in the Super Bowl. He has been texting Tiger, wanting to know how many birdies he needed to make to win. No slouch on the green, Tony is a scratch golfer. He finished second last year in the American Celebrity Golf Championship. Romo also qualified for the Open Sectional Qualifying round in 2010, but had to withdraw due to weather delays.

This year the tournament is expected to break the $100 million mark in its fund raising efforts for Northern California Charities. The AT&T Pro-Am has been contributing since 1937. With a full week of activities at the event, the first round of tournament play will begin Thursday, February 9 at 8: 00 am.

Golf is the major summer time sport here in Northeast Harbor. I've played each year here for the past decade. When I lived in Georgia, I had the opportunity to be a spectator at two of the Augusta championships.
