Best XI: Week 8

Welcome back everyone. After a long international break, we returned to the Premier League with an incredible performance on Saturday morning by Sergio Aguero, who scored four goals and despite missing a penalty finished with 51 Yahoo! points. 51! We then had some more great performances from Saints’ duo Dusan Tadic and Grazianno Pelle, leaving us with an incredible XI. The problem with having such a star-filled XI is that we can’t afford the absolute best lineup. This would have been the lineup had we had unlimited funds:

Absolute Best XI

As you see, we would have had a lineup that finished with 292 points but also one that would have cost £ 129M before the price changes! This lineup now costs £ 163M if you want it for next week without any discounts. But we don’t have unlimited funds, so our Best XI will be the best players we could have afforded into a legal formation.

Best XI

There are again a lot of big names here, the biggest again is Sergio Aguero, who despite his high price made it into the Best XI due to his absolutely phenomenal score. The big change here is Gabriel Obertan coming in for Angel Di Maria, but that’s not surprised as the Newcastle midfielder scored four points less but cost more than £ 12M less than the Manchester United star. A few more changes bring us below £ 96M.

Points

The top possible score this week in an allowable formation was 264 points despite our cut downs for cost. That’s an all time high, but with Tadic and Aguero combining for 91 points, are we really surprised?

Cost

As I already explained, the absolute best XI did not fit within our budget, but I’ve provided you with the best possible lineup within our budget, coming in at a cost of £ 94.53M*. The new price of our Best XI (if you were to try to create this team now after the price changes) is £ 126.51M. That’s a 33.8% increase in price in case you were keeping track.

*Keep in mind the cost does NOT include any substitutes and is thus 96M instead of 100M.

MVP

This week’s MVP was established in the first match of the weekend. Sergio Aguero. The striker scored four goals, two from the penalty spot, and now has as many goals as Diego Costa on the season. Those two will battle it out the whole season as long as they’re healthy and I bet they make multiple appearances in this section all season long. I would recommend both in your lineup if you can find a way to afford them.

Best ROI

The best return on your investment this week was Gabriel Obertan from Newcastle for the second week in a row! The midfielder returns a solid 18 points due to his match winning goal but had a price tag of only £ 1.16M. He now costs £ 5.92M and goes back to being irrelevant. I just don't think Newcastle will be good enough nor will Obertan produce enough to continue to return good fantasy points.

Formation

Nothing much to say here. Same old 3-4-3.

Chelsea and Hull City lead the way but teams are catching up fast, especially with Chelsea only having one player in this week’s squad.
