Best XI: Week 35

Chelsea clinched the title this past weekend but they failed to get a player into the Fantasy Best XI, so you could consider their gameweek a total failure. One could argue that there is no greater honor than to be included into the Yahoo! Premier League Best XI, and it seems Stephen Quinn and Leonardo Ulloa get it, while Eden Hazard and Didier Drogba have a ways to go.

Enough sarcasm for the week. Congratulations to Chelsea Football Club for winning the Premier League, especially in such dominating fashion. Controlling the title race from start to finish is a much tougher task than Chelsea are given credit for, and they should be truly proud. More on their title run can be read in Neal’s great Monday Morning Manager.

Best XI

Another week with Leicester representatives, who are on a roll right now. They only loss in the past five matches came against Chelsea, and they are now outside of the relegation zone. Their schedule remains easy, with matches against Southampton, Sunderland, and QPR up next. I’m investing heavily.

Points

No double-gameweek but a huge score none-the-less. 277 points this week is the second highest of the season.

Cost

This week the BEST XI cost £ 94.29M*. The new price of our Best XI (if you were to try to create this team now after the price changes) is £ 140.25M. That’s a 48.7% increase in price.

*Keep in mind the cost does NOT include any substitutes and is thus 96M instead of 100M, which assumes one might have four £ 1M substitutes.

MVP

This week’s MVP is Boaz Myhill. Yes, you read that right. The goalkeeper had nine saves, including a penalty save, to lead West Brom to a 1-0 victory at Old Trafford. There is no question he was the best Premier League player of the weekend and it’s good to see he was the best fantasy player as well. He has now had three weeks in a row with double digit fantasy points and is averaging 24 points over the last three. That sort of form is generally unsustainable but a match against Newcastle up next makes Myhill a must own goalkeeper in week 36.
